The Arts on Weyba was a wonderful success. It was beneficial to the artists who received great exposure for their excellent works, and visitors to the exhibition were thrilled with the art on display. The opening event was an enjoyable and enlightening evening of music, poetry and interesting talks.
Visitors gathered around to hear Colin Monk's recollections of Weyba history as no one else knows it, and Lyndon Davis gave insights to an intent crowd on the cultural history of his indigenous ancestors who were the original custodians of the lake.
To complete the night Weyba put on its own show with an amazing moonrise turning the lake to liquid silver.
'The Arts on Weyba' also drew the attention of the media, alerting the coast to the 'Noosa on Weyba' development and its ridiculously massive scale, which is a huge win. Friends of Lake Weyba has now greatly expanded its support net with loads of new members and eager locals now supporting its cause.
Witnessing so much public support has been uplifting and brought renewed feelings of hope to Weyba residents and the wider Sunshine Coast community. A lot of people are very passionate about saving Weyba from 'fly-through' developers, and holding an event such as 'The Arts on Weyba' has been a creative and positive form of activism, being beneficial to the community as well as offering more incentive for people to become involved than a march might have.
We have also witnessed an inspiring response from people wanting to volunteer their time and efforts to such a worthy cause, and for this we are extremely grateful.

They're going to need all the support they can get over the next few months as the plans for 'Noosa on Weyba' are submitted to council and yes, your voice will make a difference!
